Promising innovation topics – 2026
In which BAAI is negotiating the acquisition of innovation rights and licenses.
XENOZONE® – Water purification systems through intensive oxidation and UV disinfection
February 2026 | Promising innovation topics
BAAI is negotiating to acquire licensing rights for the XENOZONE technology, based on the combined action of ozone and ultraviolet light (AOP-UV). The technology achieves complete disinfection of water without chemicals and is applicable to swimming pools, spas, drinking water and industrial processes. The SCOUT and DUO systems allow for up to 1,000,000 times faster degradation of pollutants compared to classical methods. BAAI plans to implement the technology in municipal facilities and energy enterprises with the aim of building a national network for ecological water treatment.
HydroElectroMembrane Technology – production of high-purity metals and energy materials
March 2026 | Promising innovation topics
BAAI is preparing a license agreement with ECOATOM LLC for the implementation of an innovative electromembrane technology for the extraction of metals from mineral raw materials and industrial waste. The process allows for 100% extraction of magnesium, silicon and their oxides with minimal energy consumption and without toxic emissions. Applications: production of reactive metals and alloys for energy; recovery of resources from tailings ponds; production of high-purity silicon (SOG/EG grade) for solar and electronic industries. BAAI aims to acquire patent and license rights for Bulgaria and the EU, as the technology is a potential major asset in the green transition of the industry.
EcoMagnesium – a new standard for low-emission production of Mg and MgO
March 2026 | Promising innovation topics
ECOATOM’s technology for extracting pure magnesium and magnesium oxide offers 2–3 times lower cost and eliminates carbon emissions during production. The resulting magnesium powder (99.95%) can be used as an energy carrier and raw material for hydrogen production. BAAI is in talks about licensing and locating a pilot plant in Bulgaria, oriented towards the transport and energy sectors.
Silicon CleanTech – production of high-purity silicon for the solar and electronics industries
April 2026 | Promising innovation topics
A promising project for joint implementation of electromembrane technology for obtaining SiO₂ and Si (99.999%) from waste raw materials. The technology provides low energy consumption, zero waste and is suitable for solar panels, microchips and high-tech materials. BAAI is involved in negotiations for acquiring a license and partnerships with European solar silicon manufacturers.
AquaSafe Systems – intelligent solutions for pools and water facilities
January 2026 | Promising innovation topics
A concept for smart pool systems is being developed, combining XENOZONE UV technology and AI-based management. The solution includes automatic real-time water quality control, IoT sensors for monitoring parameters (pH, ORP, temperature, UV intensity) and remote diagnostics via a mobile application. BAAI aims to create a national standard for automation of water facilities, compatible with EU requirements for safety and sustainability.
Clean Water Industry 4.0 – integrated XENOZONE® and SmartEcoWater systems
2026 | Promising innovation topics
In collaboration with SmartEcoWater and partners from Germany and Poland, BAAI plans to build a demonstration water treatment plant with combined XENOZONE® + SmartEcoWater technology. The goal is to integrate modular systems with remote control and AI-monitoring capabilities, designed for municipalities, hotels and industrial complexes.
